It offers an uncompromising approach to traditional dimmer control and fully supported moving light functionality. LightFactory was developed with the idea that every lighting engineer, operator, or designer should have their own dedicated control console. A console they know completely, a console suitable for every situation, and a console they can always rely on. Most software-based control systems focus on supporting moving lights but lack the many features that define traditional lighting consoles. LightFactory fills this gap.

The full version of LightFactory can be downloaded for free and pauses for 1 minute after 30 minutes . A valid registration code is required for DMX output after the 30-minute demo period. to purchase a licensed copy of the software, which removes this restriction. The full installation includes all components needed to set up and run LightFactory.

Which version suits whom?

LightFactory is the only program on our list that costs money. You always download the same file, version 2.23.4; what you choose is the licence, and it depends on the number of DMX channels. Prices are the manufacturer’s in US dollars as of 12 October 2026.

Is LightFactory free?

The download is, continuous DMX output is not. Without a registration code the program runs with every feature but sends DMX to the fixtures only in demo mode. That is enough to learn and prepare; for the night with an audience you need a licence bought from the manufacturer.

Every button loads the file straight from the manufacturer’s server — no sign-up. Size, date and file name were verified on 12 October 2026; the date is that of the file on the server.

On a Mac, LightFactory runs under Parallels Desktop according to the manufacturer. Some virus scanners flag the installer by mistake; the manufacturer names SonicWall and Symantec.

More about LightFactory

What LightFactory is

LightFactory is a lighting desk as a Windows program, developed by Dream Solutions Ltd in Auckland, New Zealand. It works like a classic theatre desk with cue lists, submasters and crossfades, and drives moving heads and LED fixtures as well.

On top come effect engines, timecode, audio and MIDI triggers and remote control from a tablet. The large licences reach up to 150 universes; most stages need one.

What you need for it

A Windows computer, a DMX interface, a DMX cable to the first fixture — and, for shows with an audience, a licence. The manufacturer provides the fixture library as a separate file on its download page.

Together with our interfaces

In its list of supported interfaces the manufacturer names “Enttec Open USB DMX”. Our USB2DMX PRO and USB2DMX OPTO work this way.

The list also contains “ArtNet DMX over Ethernet”. That is the protocol our AIR2DMX PRO receives over Wi-Fi.
